February Diary 2012

feb_ad

February brings Late Summer to New Zealand. Late Summer is a big month for (sub) tropical blooms: Bougainvillea, Hibiscus, Bromeliads, Plumeria, Gardenia, Stephanotis, Jacobinia, Summer Orchids and Mandevilla.

Along with tropical Water Lilies and more should be looking great. Summer annuals and perennials are still at their peak provided they receive ample water and food.

Day length, growth rates, sunlight and warmth and growth rates have all peaked and now simmer in subtle seasonal transition from Summer to Autumn this month. Gardeners in the warmer subtropical and moderate temperate climates should expect their gardens to remain glorious throughout the month.
