Quick Overview

October is mid-spring when warm weather arrives country-wide in New Zealand with new growth, abundant flowers, and the air filled with the fragrant promise of a new season. This is one of the busiest months of the year in the garden. So very much can be planted, transplanted or sown and conditions for rapid growth are excellent. There is perhaps more in flower now than at just about any other time in the gardening year. This is especially true of New Zealand's subtropical and milder temperate zone gardens. Here climates are gentle, mild and accommodating to exotic flowering species from around the world, all of which combine to create very special gardens of exceptional beauty and variety.
